Graham giving the finger to Tamsin Greig

Did anyone else notice that Graham gave Tamsin Greig the finger? When he asked about her family cat, he scratches his beard with his middle finger. That can't be a mistake... No one scratches their faces with their middle finger.
Was it a reference to something backstage? Or did they have a running joke? No one can mislike Greig, can they?
