Real Gangsters Don't Brag to Film Crews

I'm not going to say that I'm any sort of tough guy myself but I know enough about real crime to know that all of these "wiseguys" who sell their stories to producers are either has-beens or wannabes. All the real criminal kingpins are too busy running their empires to be giving interviews, on top of that they are trying to convince the public that they are anything BUT a gangster. If you would have asked Al Capone how he made his living, he would have told you he was a successful used-furniture dealer.

The phrase 'has been' implies that you were at least there, once!

Sure, they often don't stay on top for too long, because it's usually a very ruthless life... Not to glamourise what they do, because it's not my thing - but I don't think there's anything wrong with making a film about somebody who USED to be a gangster and is now on a downturn and trying to cling to their notoriety... Is there?
