Uncut or Director's Cut Version?

Do you think there will ever be hope for an uncut version of this film? There's supposed to be more explanation of Alice Eve's character and a whole part of Sean Penn that got completely cut. The director confirmed it himself.

It would really had made a better movie if all the scenes were finally placed in. A lot of folks I asked complained it seemed too jumpy or blundered.
