Why does the dude in the beginning (the one who brakes his ankle by tripping over a rock) have a fake black eye and a cut on his face? I'm guessing there was some other beginning filmed that sucked even worse than the one shown on Sci-Fi....? I was cracking up at the damn ogre!

the makeup was so horrible that my 4 years old could have done better. i wonder if the make-up artist was the actor himself.

I finally saw this movie the other night. I was wondering the same thing. The kid's all beat-up looking, but they never explain why.

Must be a scene they cut out or something.

I think I heard them say something about a branch hitting his face. It was a very fake bruise I agree.

I think the point is he was incredibly clumsy and always hurting himself.
