"When Billy drives away at the restaurant to avoid Steve Wiebe who is inside, he really goes around the corner to park. Then goes inside and eats. And pays for dinner."
That's one account. Another is that Billy avoided going into the restaurant for quite a while before asking the producers of the documentary to pay for the dinner, but let Billy take credit for it. Only then did Billy actually enter the restaurant. Depends on who you believe, really. Although the director of the film claims to have the receipt from that dinner proving that he and his team actually paid for it, not Billy. Not that any of us will likely ever see it, nor should such a thing even be necessary.
I don't doubt that some events were skewed in the editing of this documentary, for the sake of drama. I've never looked at as a 100% factual account. However, Billy and his cohorts haven't proven to be the most trustworthy group around, either. Their smear campaign of this film was filled with all kinds of ludicrous and false claims (as many, if not more than some people claim were in this film), and didn't really do anything to contradict the personal image that he and others feel this film paints him so negatively as. If anything, it only solidified it.
So, like I said, depends on who you believe (or who you believe more, I should say). Personally, I find that the director of this film has been far more believable and consistent in his claims than what I've heard and seen out of the Billy camp.
Then again, I don't really care either way. It's an entertaining film, regardless.
