Ganja Queen film did not help her cause
You know if someone was going to put this story on film, I would think that the notion of her guilt or innocence wouldn't be questioned - I mean if your making a documentary of the "horrors' of this case", she HAS TO BE INNOCENT. Unfortunately, this isn't the case with this film. I think Schapelle Corby may in fact be guilty or at the very least know something that she's not telling. The first time I heard her brother being interviewed, it seemed to me he was in on what was going on. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the culprit here - not at all.
Since Corby's story has picked up so much coverage, I've read the press has done some research. Schapelle's father had been implicated in running marijuana in Australia. A friend of her father stated that he was offered $80,000(Aus $)to ride a boat filled with pot from offshore to Aussie land. He died in February on this year or last - I can't recall. The story isn't the only one that has come out.
Now her lawyers went on about her not fitting the "smuggler profile" and the fact she didn't test positive for marijuana. The fact she didn't test positive was the one thing that helps her case. However outside that fact, she actually fits the profile pretty well. She didn't come from money, yet had enough disposal income to travel (even though she had family in Indonesia). Also, her brother-in-law - and Indonesian - owns a surfer shop. Well, I don't think anyone would be surprised to hear that a surfer smokes pot. Also, her performance in that courtroom was anything but convincing. She certainly was hiding something. If I could put money on the truth - the brother is involved. She is protecting her brother in my book
You hear horror stories about western nationals being arrested for crimes they did not commit. There are plenty of people in prisons throughout Asia and Latin America that are facing this problem. I also don't think smuggling in a few pounds of pot is worth the death penalty - heck, it should be legalized in my book. Alcohol is worse then pot - don't see many "stoned driving deaths reaching fifty a year".
If you want to see a film that will make you think - and think in a positive way. Something that afterwards, you will be like "wow, that was interesting". Go see "Heavy Load".
