Beautiful film

I just saw this film yesterday - absolutely fantastic. Thomas Dumerchez and Catherine Denueve are both excellent and give beautiful performances. Gael Morel is a great director who keeps getting better.

Yea, I agree. I'd like to buy it on DVD but so far that prospect is looking grim.

I felt the film was a bit messy, but Deneuve was wonderful.

I bought the DVD when it came out in August. I loved this movie. Catherine Deneuve is a really great actress. I seriously cried at the part when she ran to her ex husband and cried in his arms. I have no children but i felt like i had one and lost one.

But i have to agree with you here. The film was somewhat messy as the film was going nowhere. & I disliked the ending very much. Gael Morel disappointed me. This movie had the potential to come out better than it did, because it has such a strong plot.

I saw the last hour of this movie last night and wish I had seen the whole thing. I thought Deneuve was incredible - the constant look of pain and confusion on her face was heartbreaking. I've known a few mothers who have lost their children and this lunacy Deneuve's character seems to be falling into is very real. Her ignoring -and in fact, abusing - her daughter and new grandchild and obsession with her dead son's friend is tragic, yet somehow understandable considering her pain, as was her just wanting to be around young men.

I must say, I HATED the last scene. The ending was very disappointing - it seems as though the director just gave up on it, not knowing what else to do.

Catherine Deneuve was great, but the rest of the film wasn't. The sons best friend could've been developed a bit more, and some of the scenes felt awkward/unnatural to me. Some of the supporting cast couldn't do emotion that well, and lastly it felt a bit too much like a tv movie.
