Recognize anybody?

Of course everyone recognizes the celeb cops. I was just wondering if there's any other Muncie-ites here, and if so, if they recognized anybody they've seen on the show.

Of course, I think everyone is familiar with the Christmas-tree fire; I even saw a couple of members of the family out around town the next day, just kind of wandering around in a daze (can't say I wouldn't be). But so far, that's the only recognizing I've done.

For people outside Muncie....what do you think of our little backwater community?

reply

You have at least one hot cop, the one the Estrada rides with. But, your community isn't little. The town I'm from has less than 1600 residents. We have two cops.

reply

Muncie is not a backwater community. Our city has more than 67,000 residents. According to the census in 99 we are the 7th biggest city in Indiana. That's not shabby and it's not backwater.

This show hasn't effected my life one bit. I haven't seen one of the celebs, but I know people who have. I don't make it a habit of hanging around in Whitely or down on South Madison which is where the busts last night took place, so I haven't noticed anyone so far that I know. I don't blame Jack Osbourne for locking his doors on south Madison! I do all the time!

Amen. South Madison is the last place I want to be, and that's in broad daylight.

As for the "backwater" comment, I was mostly referencing the way the majority of the US no doubt views a city in Indiana they've never heard of. If the producers truly wanted a backwater community, they'd have picked Elwood, no doubt. (j/k, anyone from Elwood.....please don't hunt me down and kill me! :) )

You also have to realize that a good majority of the "citizens" in muncie consist of the college students from BSU. My friend lives in muncie, and actually a couple of my buddies were production assistants on the show. They haven't been added to the cast yet because they have to be tagged to the episodes they helped in. Granted ok, production assistant is basically the lap dog for the producers and the cast, but I think it's a great start for two BSU T-Comm graduates to be participating in. Look for their names later. James Panighetti and Rick Klemcheski (Sorry rick, you crazy polok, I dunno how to spell your name and I'm FAR too lazy to pull up facebook). My friend also has one of Jason Acuna's jackets, because his sister (who is also Rick's fiance) did his laundry and Weeman left town forgetting his jacket.

Personally, regarding the show, I think it has both a positive and a negative effect on Muncie and Indiana. Most people view Indiana as the stereotypical corn country. There have been so many commercial and industrial advances in the state, yet it hasn't fully been recognized by the average public. This show is, in my opinion, an attempt to advertise Indiana and get it publicly noticed. That and there is the possibility the people in L.A. were trying to find a small area and just happened to pick Indiana, but if they wanted the true "hillbilly, po-dunk town" feel then why not pick Iowa or Nebraska or something?

I like the show. And I don't blame Jack Osbourne for locking the doors on south Madison either... That part of muncie is... different... I once saw a very pale man, in the middle of the night, riding a bike down the street, drinking out of a paper bag. The worst part, he was balding, looked like he was strung out on coke, and had no tires on his bike... No rubber whatsoever... Jim (James Panighetti) nicknamed him the south-muncie-poster-child... Enough of my ramblings though. Great show except for La Toya...

I recognize MPD Officer Scott O'dell, but I don't really know him. I think he was a couple years behind me at Wapahani, not sure though. I know he was attending my Church for a while, but like I said, I didn't really know him.

My Pastor saw Wee Man at The Blue Bottle last week, but I don't spend that much time in town, so I never spotted anyone.

When did they start filming, November? I was just thinking... I knew a girl who was killed in a traffic accident a week before Thanksgiving. It would be disturbing for friends and family to relive something like that on a nationally televised TV show 3 months later!

I really enjoyed the first episode. I didn't realize the second one was Thursday, so I didn't get it recorded.

reply

I'm not quite sure but I don't think they were filming just then. The family would have to sign off to get it shown, also I think.

reply

I've seen two people that I know. One in an episode last night. Plus, my cousin was filmed skateboarding with Wee-Man. So, he might be in an episode. They had him sign a waiver. We'll see if it makes it onto the show.

Apparently, a friend of my aunt and uncle named Raymond will be on the next episode. My grandma saw the ad and flipped out. Raymond just got out of jail after doing 25 years for theft, and decided to steal again after living with my aunt and uncle for a few months.

I know the Paramedic that pulled the stun device out of Trish Status. He's a supervisor at Delaware County EMS named Rodney. I am from Muncie and moved away, but I have everyone at work watching. I'm suprised they have taken it as serious as they have! Keep up the good work!!

I went to high school with one of the girls in the laundr-o-mat from the first episode.
As the series goes on I will probally see more.

Uh, um. Excuse me, can we get back to the situation of the gravy?

reply

I went to high school with the girl who had the baby in her car. :-) My dad just called me to tell me about it.

I work at Brother Jimmy's in Yorktown and they had their private opening party there. A manager that use to work at Brother Jimmy's was pulled over in the second episode I think, she was the driver going the wrong way down a one way street. And my friend Dan's party got busted by Wee Man, but that episode is still to come--if they show it at all. All I've seen of the shows is white trash, I doubt they'll show much of BSU students considering we aren't really a part of the city, but...I feel like we make up most of Muncie. But then again, you won't really find an 80 year old woman selling crack on our campus either. So, I guess we're not fun enough, ha haha.
