Montalbano senior?

I am now catching up with Inspector Montalbano series 1 and 2 on DVD ( as BBC 4 has gone 'off the boil' on saturday evenings. But Have I mis-remembered something ? Surely in one of the later series Inspector Montalbano goes to his father's vineyard and they have a pretty disfunctional relationship exposed. Yet here in series 2 they are burying the man.
I am quite well known for remembering things wrongly, so if anyone one would like to clear my little grey cells....please do.

I'm not done with the series yet and I haven't gone in chronological order but I did see the episode where his father dies (although we don't actually see him make an appearance, just his voice over the phone). It's apparent that their relationship is strained (although I'm not entirely sure why). After a year of silence, father suddenly telephones him and asks how things are going, how he and Livia are doing, etc. But he doesn't tell him that anything is wrong. Salvo then receives a letter from someone (manager? I forget) at his father's vineyard revealing to him that his father has been diagnosed with a rapidly degenerating fatal lung disease and that he should come quickly. A few days pass, Salvo gets tied up with a case and ultimately doesn't make it there in time. When he finally gets to the hospital, he is met by the doctor, who tells him that his father had already just passed away. Then there was a funeral and we see Livia come to pay her respects. Not much else is really shown nor explained.
