Based on a true story?
I couldn't find any info on what happened in real life. Does anyone have any info on the actual people & events?
shareYes it's inspired by true events. In fact when the director was a policeman, this crime described in the movie happened (parents dead, 2 little girls alive). When these 2 girls were adult, he talked to them. And when the movie was finished, he showed them MR 73, they all cried (it's what he said in the audio commentary on the french dvd).

It's amazing how "based on a true story" is used so loosely these days...
Perhaps 'inspired' would be better but honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find an accurate 'based on real events' film.

Texas Chain Saw WAS based on a true story. It just didn't involve a chainsaw. Or a massacre. And didn't happen in Texas.
