hey im not in india,so I have no clue.whats this film about?

It's a noir drama about a small town guy who is a failed writer of detective fiction. He decides to take on a seemingly simple enough case in real life and soon finds that he's bitten off more than he can chew and is trapped in a web of lies, deceit and murder.

Don't take this the wrong way, pals, but it does sound as if this owes a bit to Chinatown. I'm not saying nor implying it's a ripoff, but I do detect a relationship.

its straight rip off of chinatown and since we dont have california, we use rajasthan for the water related backdrop

not the ashok kumar one, its being remade in animation or something retarded

this is a ripoff of chinatown by jack nicolhson... the 74 version

same story basically

rohonnag - do you know what ripoff even means? Try Partner, try Black, try Heyy babyy. Do not denigrate a fine product - the movie pays homage to Chinatown in its own and very unique way. First go see it and then we can discuss why it is not a ripoff!!

well a rip off means copying of plot lines/devices or scenes,

even kaante is a big ass ripoff, black isnt, its more a remake.. of the same story, same goes for devdas and parineeta, not ripoff but remakes,

this movie had atleast 2-3 similar if not same scenes,

the wife of a important man who hires a detective, it didnt work that well in manorama coz he wasnt a detective,

the detective gets beaten by 2 goons who threaten him for info,

these 2 scene are total ripoffs,

rest is admittedly quite different, the entire plot changes, and personally while chinatown is a classic, this falls on its own feet in the last quarter...

Sheesh every film is inspired by another and you see similarities everywhere. Its a good film, check it out for yourself.
