I was blown away by this movie

And I spent most of the day trying to find a region 1 copy as it doesn't say when it will be released in the US. I was shocked how wonderful this movie was and had no idea there were such people in Denmark fighting the Nazi's quite to this extent. I read somewhere were this was one of the most expensive productions in danish film history and if I have anything to do with it I will purchase the movie and anything else that would increase its stock. The length of the movie is perfect to me especially a good war story and it's very complex with complex characters. I love Christian Berkel. Whenever he's in a movie regard Nazi Germany you know it's going to be good. And the two main characters, Flame and Citron are played perfectly by the actors that portrayed them. I am a huge fan of the Dutch movie "Black Book" but feel this movie outshines it by far. It's a well made movie very worth watching. It's also a riveting story and a great thriller yet a tragic tale of war. A real drama all in one. At times very paradoxical while a beautifully shot movie full of detail that to me achieves 5 star status. Honestly, I felt I was there as the movie progressed that's how realistic it seemed to me. Thank you for doing this movie because as far as I'm concerned I learned something and got on Amazon and bought a book about the Danish resistance...that's the positive impact it has had on me already. Please get the word out on this movie. Thank you.

If you liked it you should really see "Drengene fra Sankt Petri" to.

Where could I get a copy of a region 1 movie? Thanks for mentioning it.

reply

I don't think there is a region 1 version of 'Drengene fra Skt. Petri'.

I loved it, too. It's been playing in New York City for the last three weeks and I saw it this evening. So rich a film on so many levels!

I agree with all of you. I thought it was fantastic! One of the best WWII movies I've ever seen. I went based on a good review in the LA Times, but it was far better than I expected.

Saw it last night, it was very good. Keeps you guessing about people's motives even after it ends.

So... do you like... stuff?

reply

I couldn't agree more!

reply

Absolutely. I have watched it at least a half dozen times in the past couple of years and it never gets old. and yes, I plug this movie on IMDB and facebook every time war movies or spy movies are discussed.

Love's turned to lust and blood's turned to dust in my heart.

I've never seen another spy/resistance film quite like it. It's excellent and a whole history course in itself on Northern Germanic in-fighting during WWII. The only production that comes close to it--ironically, much more graphic and disturbing--is "A Man Called Intrepid," an American mini-series starrig Michael York and Barbara Hershey as a spy dropped behind enemy lines who is as stupid as Flame.
