Citron's wife turn him in?

Where is Citron being taken care of after he is shot? And you see the scene after he talk to his wife where she is riding down the street on her bike and then the German infantry comes. Does that indicate that she tipped them off?

You must have left before the end. The head of the Gestapo handed the 20,000 kronar reward over to the woman Flame fell for. He even gave her a letter Flame had written her saying he refused to believe she was a double agent even though he had been warned that she was a traitor.

The narration during the credits said she went to Sweden and lived there. They said she died on Majorca in the mid 1990's.

Sweden pretended to be neutral during the war like Switzerland but sold iron ore to the Nazis for steel and even allowed Nazi troops through their country to attack Denmark and Norway. Swedes who point this out draw the anger of the collabarators.

Its just they seemed to draw attention her her ride away while the Gestapo rolled in....

I agree, the wife seems like SHE turned him in after Citron came round & frightened her and her new lover and then they show her riding off on the bicycle and immediately the Nazis show up....what a harrowing movie, I was
throughly engrossed & fascinated by the terrific acting & cinematography....
very very sad, though......

You sure that was his wife? She had similar looks but he was in a safe house north of copenhagen and his wife had already moved on with her life. That was the only nurse I seen in the movie and there is a nurse in the credits and he was talking to her like he didnt know her and she seemed unaware of what he had done, she was a little bemused when he said he was going to hell for what he had done, his wife earlier in the movie described him as a murderer so was fully aware of his resistence activities.

reply

I am sure that wasn't his wife.

reply

It's definitely not his wife. It was a nurse with the name Marie. His wife is Bodil.

reply

It WASN'T? Jeeze after all this time...
So why make a scene like that where he talks to her as if we are all familiar with her.

Ashmi any question

reply

It was just a guy telling a girl she is pretty and nice. And showing the audience that he isn't sure anymore he did the right thing.

In that case they really should have chosen a woman who didn't resemble his wife so much... perhaps a younger brunette?

They didn't resemble so much in my eyes. I never had troubles to tell them apart.

I agree with you. Both women looked so similar it was confusing, although IRL, there's nothing noted about his wife turning him in to the Germans.🐭

reply

That was not his wife - he called the woman "Maria". But, it did seem Maria might have been the one to turn him in, until you get toward the end of the film and find out who it really was.

You've done some bad things, sweetie.

reply

It´s not his wife, his wife's name is Bodil and he calls this nurse Marie. In the beguinning of the film Flame says:"The people from the ambulances helped us" I think that´s the reason why after he shot a police inside an ambulance instead of being turned in by the ambulance driver, he ends in this safe house...that in the end wasn´t safe enough...

reply

Citron was in a safe house,as the movie says. The nurse turned Citron in,and the woman that Flame fell for turned HIM in,..NOT Citron. You have to remember that both of them got killed,in two different places. Citron was shot to death at the safe house, and Flame took that pill in his room in the basement of his parents home. And THEN the woman got her money there in the coffee house, from Hoffman, for telling him where Flame was.

reply

The nurse DID NOT TURN HIM IN!

It was all a misunderstanding on Lemon's part. Still he gave that Nazi scum a bloody nose.

Ah the Nazis, the one group it still safe to hate after all these years... ;)

reply

I also thought the nurse was his wife. I was even surprised to see her there and thought: how did she get to be a nurse in a safe house, but well, I guess Citron must have somehow contacted her ...

reply

I thought it was his wife too!

Didn't he say I have to get shot to get you to take care of me or something like that??
