A question

I've seen this film twice now, but feel that I don't fully understand all that occurred.

That German Abwerh chap - I don't remember his name - whom Flame couldn't shoot the first time he encountered but whom Citron shot later. Was the hit ordered by Hoffman, the Gestapo chief via Flame and Citron's boss? The Abwerh man was probably an anti-Nazi, since the Abwehr was apparently riddled with anti-Nazis, including the organization's chief, i.e. Canaris. There's a motive, therefore, for having him bumped off. Also, this might explain why Flame and Citron and their associates were able to hang out in the same cafe/bar that Hoffman and his chums hung out.

reply

What happened was that Flame and Citron's boss was involved in illegal business dealings with the German guy. To cover his tracks, he came up with an excuse and ordered his assassination. Hoffman was not involved at all.

The reason Flame and Citron and their associates were able to hang out in the same cafe was because Hoffman didn't know their true identities. The boss had convinced to Hoffman that he was innocent.

In fact Ketty, later tells Flame that he was secretly part of the German Resistance too, as well as being an old business associate of Winther.🐭
