New Years Revolution 2007 Review

New Years Revolution 2007 took place on Jan 7th 2007 at the Kemper Arena In ST Loui Mo. As a production of Raw, your hosts are JR and King.

Match #1

Intercontinental Championship Steel Cage Match

Jeff Hardy Vs Johnny Nitro w Melina

Nitro's coat has little light up sign boards that read MNM on them. He's starting to look like JJ back in the day. Nitro gets hung upside down off the top of the cage and Jeff tries climbing but Melina whips his hands with her belt to stop that. Jeff climbs up top again and hits the swanton but Nitro touches the ropes on a pin which is crap since it's no DQ so rope breaks shouldn't count. Melina blocks the door while Nitro climbs out, so Jeff dropkicks the door and Nitro falls on it and gets crotched. Jeff gets out the door at 14:41 to retain. Standard cage match. Nothing fantastic. 2 1/2 stars.

Match #2

Tag Team Turmoil

Whoever wins get's a shot at Rated RKO for the belts. It never ammounted to anything. Highlanders start out with the Worlds Greatest Tag Team who have been thrown back together after being shoved into singles too soon and are competing in tag team like everybody else in the company not currently fighting for a world title. IC and US champs frequently get pulled into the tag division aswell and the tag belts died a LONG time ago. Highlanders go for a rocket launcher on Haas but Shelton draw distraction then sneaks up and superplexes Rory for the pin. Next up is Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Super Crazy. Duggan with clothesline and HOOOOOOOOOO, then gets kicked in his HOOOOOOOO. Duggan fights back and hits the three point on Haas. Crazy hottags and dropkicks the heels. He hits a seated dropkick and a standing moonsault and jumps up top and gets punched off by Shelton and a german suplex pin by Haas eliminates them. Cade and Murdoch rundown and beat up WGTT and Cade gets a running powerslam. Shelton with a suprise rollup for 2. Cade and Murdoch do a hart attack style maneuver that involves big booting the guy in the face instaed of a clothesline. Haas tries the haas of pain and he gets clobbered and pinned to bring in Cryme Tyme. JTG plays thug in peril for a bit then Murdoch jumps off the ropes into a boot then flips out of a double vertical suplex attempt and tags Shad. Shad cleans house and gets dropped by Murdoch. JTG recovers almost instantly and they do the modified firemans carry blockbuster whatever the hell it is for the pin at 18:14. 2 1/2 stars.

Match #3

Singles Match

The Nature Boy Ric Flair Vs Kenny Dykstra

Kenny wears a cheap robe out and talks smack about Flair. Flair chops Kenny a bunch then decides on going up top but gets slammed off, as usual. Flair comes back with a chopblock and figure four, but Kenny makes the ropes in what took far too long and the ammount of time that main eventers had tapped out. Kenny gets a thumb in the eye and a cheap pin at 9:59. 1 1/2 star.

Victoria meets with Melina backstage and offers a title shot if she helps her win the belt later on.

Match #4

Womens Title Match

Mickie James Vs Victoria

Pretty good for a womens match. Victoria controls the first portion then Mickie mounts the comeback when Victoria misses a moonsault and gets a headscissors as Melina interferes but some of the other ho's show up and take Melina out of the equation and Vicotria tries a slam but Mickie turns it into a tornado ddt and gest the pin to retain at 6:49. 2 stars because I like Victoria, with Trish and Lita gone, she's like the last diva who can actually go at this time frame.

Match #5

Raw Tag Team Championship Match

Rate RKO Vs DX

DX beat the crap out of RRKO before the bell rings and the ref finally calms them down but not before RRKO are left laying outside. Things settle into a regular tag match and Shawn gets beat and busted open. HHH hottags and cleans house but things get a litte weird as HHH tweaks a quad muscle, in the opposite leg from which he wrecked in 2001 and things break down into a brawl. The referee gets wiped out and Orton and Edge are left laying on the tables outside like a puddle of goo. Shawn helps HHH to the back but he doesn't look as bad as he did in 2001. The match is ruled at no contest (a rarity for WWE) at 23:20. Ill go 3 stars.

Match #6

Singles Match

Carlito w Torrie Wilson Vs Chris Masters

I thought they were teasing a feud between these two last year at this time? Theyre only pulling the trigger now? Masters picked on Torri and Carlito saved the day, there's the rundown. Carlito with a springboard moonsault for 2 then like an idiot tries a full nelson and Masters gives him a sweet dragon release suplex. Masters beats him down and Carlito fights back with a springboard back elbow and a clothesline then a downward spiral but Masters gets a cheap suprise pin at 5:58 and punks out Carlito with the master lock. 1 1/2 star. Too short, but was decent for what it was, a Raw midcard match.

Match #7

WWE Championship Match

John Cena Vs Umaga w Estrada

Cena goes at Umaga and hits a face crusher then Umaga charges and Cena lowbridges, and Umaga has a fit outside. Back inside he tosses Cena over the top hard on his shoulder then works on it but runs into a foot, then he decks Cena. Cena fights back and steps into a samoan drop. Cena attempts a sunset flip and almost gets Umaga's ass in his face but dodges. Umaga maintains control and Cena gives him a hot shot on the ropes and tries a cross body but gets caught and a tiltawhirl sidewalk slam drops him for 2. Cena fights back and gets smacked with a spin heel kick. Cena tries the FU but collapes and Umaga squashes his head in the process. Umaga going for the spike but Cena kicks him in the gut but runs into a back elbow. Umaga goes up top and misses the spike dive and Cena goes SuperCena and starts winning a punchout but runs into a jab in the bad ribs. Umaga misses a charge and gets sent over the turnbuckle into the post and a proto bomb takes him down. 5 knuckle shuffle and he goes for the FU again but the back fails and Umaga gets a belly to belly. Umaga sends Cena to the corner and runs into another boot and Cena with the rollup and the 3 at 17:16. This one didn't really work for me that well. It was mostly Umaga beats Cena, Cena starts fighting back and Umaga stops him then makes another mistake so Cena can fight back and get knocked down again and have Umaga lose on a suprise pin, it was typical Cena match. Im going 2 1/2 stars.

Overall Opinion: I thought it was going to be worse than what ive heard. But it was just alright. The WWE didn't need two January ppvs, especially with the Rumble in 3 weeks. They got with it and this was the last New Years Revolution.

Final Score: 4.2 stars out of 10.0. Not the worst ever but just another generic filler ppv.
