its an effing kids movie and its delightful.

Its being released in a seven different countries theatrically.

The Sun is being sued for misleading and stating false facts. The reviews were actually very good.

"its an effing kids movie and its delightful."

Really? Kids movies can't suck? Great... just hand off the worst crap in the world to the kids. They don't know any better! Yippie!!!

reply

Have you actually seen it?

Or are you just pontificating?

Compared to Barney and some of the other crap that is being put out that I've had to sit through with my kids, this was like watching a masterpiece! First off my daughter LOVED it and wanted to see it again immediately after it was finished. Secondly I wish every kids movie featured a goddess like Kelly Brook in it. If somehow a half dressed Laetitia Casta could be inserted into horrible movies like Barney or Marisa Miller could become a prolific actress of childrens movies there would be thousands of fathers taking their children to the theaters! In my opinion Fishtails is one of the greatest kids movies, right up there with Enchanted!

Saw this yesterday, my daughter loves Mermaids. Not sure how anyone could of liked this movie. None of the actors could act....even Billy Zane....he was lifeless. THis film looked like it was shot with a home video recorder. I am thinking the those involved with this film only made it so they could get a paid trip to Greece. Again, we watched this only because my daughter loves mermaids...not very good at all.

reply

I've seen it (for about 45 minutes).

The "quite good reviews" from who? What kind of critic would even consider this moronic XXI century BAD imitation of the Three Stooges?
Lots of pie in the face (metaphorically speaking; it's just that kind of physical humor.
Characters are played way overboard. The bad guy looks like Captain Hook a day Robin Williams was high. The professor is a complete imbecile.

Dialogues are unremarkable, except for the fact that people do not talk to each other that way. One example: if you are a lecturer struggling for weeks or months to understand an ancient text and all of a sudden you get someone that speaks the language, everything else takes a step back. Not in this story, where the nutty professor gets distracted by dunno what, and overall seems incapable of doing anything right.

Sophomoric. And utterly unfunny.

Mermaid is gorgeous and daughter is cute, though. Beautiful landscapes.

Yeah. It got bad reviews at Cannes. I guess the actress almost drowned while shooting.

I'm looking forward to this, my niece recently got one of thsoe Barbie Mermaidia dolls and she's now obsessed with all things mermaid so I'll be taking her to see this when it lands and I'll bet it's great fun, and of course we mustn't forget that Kelly Brook in a mermaid costume and a gorgeous Greek island setting are a good reason to go and see anything, especially with the current British attempt at a summer!

reply

Hey it's had some pretty lame reviews as it's Kelly Brook and she's never gonna win an oscar but it's worth checking out as a fun-filled light-hearted Summer film- plus KB in a bikini is always a good thing! It's set on the beautiful Greek island of Spetses where I always used to holiday as a child- if you watch the film it is a great holiday brochure for this place and you can even win a holiday to go there on www.fishtales.tv / www.fishtalesmovie.com which I found when trying to book my next hol there!! x

I work in a cinema, and we started the movie on Friday. It has sold one ticket all week. And it's been replaced with another film already...

reply

wow! that sounds bad.

Not seen this but just seems like another movie where the more famous one in the couple tries to promote the other CoughsMadonna&GuyCoughs but in this case it's Billy zane and Kelly brooke. But have to admit Zane just looks like a right freak in this.

Boring movie ever! With a lot of silly jokes it’s not even funny at all. The movie also too kiddies, feels like watching the Olsen twin direct to video movie, with repeated song (still lingering in my heads) during the movies. This is a worst mermaid movie ever. The mermaid looks pretty ridiculous unreal, like she's wearing a pillowcase or something with jewels stick in it?

The mermaid doesn’t get much screen time as human do, and there are many unnecessary scenes. To think of it, this movie is unnecessary at all.

Please I beg to all peoples who intend to watch it, please, I mean please, skip it!

I almost sleep during the movies. But I have to pinch myself a couple times.

damn there are a lot of angry people on this forum who havent even seen the movie!

Amazing.

reply

They're giving the film on pay per-view and I couldn't finish watching it... the acting was all around bad and the plot was silly, which I can deal with to a point since it is a kids movie... but the acting was the main thing that turned me off.

reply

eh it was cute
what was really annoying was the daughter's accent - she's probably british or australian, trying to do an american accent, and not doing very well...

reply

I Rented it for my daughters one 9 the other 5 nither of them finished watching th emovie. When you get a kids movie for kids and they decide to go do something else rather than watch it then its not so good.

reply

*holding up right hand* I swear that I've seen this movie.

I've stomached my way through some films with dang-bad acting and no plot whatsoever .... this one had measly attempts at both.

the ONLY redeeming feature of this movie was, in fact, THE MERMAID! Kelly Brooks did a fine job of portraying an awesome fantasy creature, and the Grecian island setting helped do wonders.

The acting - gag.
The plot - there was one?!

I would watch it for the mermaid ONLY
I would never BUY it though ... as much as I love mermaids ...

And please don't subjugate kids to watching this unless they're older or smart enough to discuss how it could be better ... hey, maybe as a little fun writing thing they could re-write the story the way THEY think it should be. After all, kids have the most AMAZING imaginations ever. That's why I refuse to grow up =)

i was impressed with some almost proffesional negative responses.
i saw the film and i was really entertained.THE Characters are really funny and convincing
BILLIE ZANE showed that he has a strong foot in modern cinema by altering his style with
strong but comedic performance ,the kids were fantastic with strong emotional moments,
all cliche were not there only fresh and full of life energy acting and filmaking.
ethereal cinematography and inspired music themes.A very complete movie for kids over six
and the rest of the family. For those who like BILIE ZANE only in like TITANIC movies-sorry-
this is not one, is more modern and human and few milion times lower cost.
If you didn't see in a theater get in other ways.A good one.
