This show kinda reminds me of the old classic Ren and Stimpy cartoons.

In terms of the use of stock music and the zany, surreal comedy, yes.
Weird is the new normal.
This series definitely hearkens back to REN & STIMPY!
This series was done by many Spumco vets, including co-creator Erik Wiese and background designer Bill Wray (who's also done the episode title cards from Season 2 onward).
Most recently, "Bee Nice" (one of my favorite Season 2 episodes) was storyboarded by Katie Rice, who also worked with John Kricfalusi, and has her own webcomic, SKADI, in Dumm Comics! Katie has done an outstanding job on the episode.

My 5 year old loves the show.
Her favorite one (forgot the name) was when the tribe went camping.
