Reminds me of Ren and Stimpy

I've been watching this show since it's premiere and I keep thinking how it resembles the old "Ren and Stimpy" cartoons that used to air on Nick. This show is hilarious and I love the gross out animation and humor. Has anyone else noticed the resemblance?

compared to the grossness of Ren and Stimpy, this show is like a bottle of windex.

reply

True. I don't think it's the gross-out, because Ren and Stimpy were a lot more gross and crude than the Mighty B. You may be noticing the resemblance in animation schemes and the fact that there are some suspenseful(dark) parts, as well as the way the characters look.

I agree with you. This show has a lot more fun and excitement than Cartoon Network's crap, like CHOWDER or THE MISADVENTURES OF FLAP-JACK.

MIGHTY B rules! Period.

reply

chowder and flapjack are better than the mighty b in my humble, honest opinion.

A can see where you're coming from, yes.

i was going to post the same thing, the animation is very similar to Ren and Stimpy and the humor is gross but funny.

The art style is what reminds me of Ren and Stimpy, did some of the artist work on it?

I can probably help with this. Erik Wiese is the co-creator and former animator for John Kricfalusi or John K. John K. created Ren and Stimpy and after his stint with Nickelodeon he started work on Flash Animation. John K was one of the first people to use the program flash for cartoons. (Because flash use to be used just for those annoying banner ads.) So while John K. worked flash he got hired by Spike TV to do a new version of Ren and Stimpy and after it was cancelled, alot of his young animators started doing their own thing which explains work like, El Tigre and the Mighty B. Mighty B has this "neo-retro" or "Ren and Stimpy look" because John K. used to be Erik Wiese's boss.

I also feel that the art work and animation styles are similar. The music used in this show is also reminicent of old Ren and Stimpy cartoons. It even has some the crude humor. Despite being an okay show, nothing will ever compare to Ren and Stimpy. The show was amazing and John K. was a true genius.

I can see how Ren and Stimpy resemblance style, especially with the Eric Wises and John K connection.

Has anyone noticed the hobo that looks exactly like Stimpy? He's a background character but he's the human version of Stimpy!
