ABSOLUTELY TRAGIC....

What on earth is Jennifer Saunders doing with this? Or the talented Miranda Richardson. The problem with the subject matter is that in reality, Jerry Springer type shows are just as appauling and offensive as the situation the comedy tries to parody. This comedy is not a parody of that genre of television - but just sits alongside it. It didn't even make me smile - in fact I was actually gobsmacked by it's lack of humour. I switched off after the fourth 'F**CK' - It's about as low as you can get if you need that word to create a laugh. Absolutely fabulous?.....No - ABSOULTELY TRAGIC.

I have watched them all, thanks to the youtube people who upload for us all, as we don't get them in the states and who knows wherever in the free world who want to see them. Can't say enough good about this series. Love the cutting edge dramedy that is so unique on t.v. I am sick and tired of having canned b.s. shoved down my throat. This is not roll in the aisles funny, but so sophisticated that it may be over some heads. It's not the slap-stick humor of F&S and AbFab. Please give crdit where credit is due, and give it a chance. It deserves the equivalent of an Emmy here. The writing, acting, and directing are superb.

If we had something like this on HBO, Showtime, etc, ppl. would have thought they died and went to heaven. You don't really understand censorship until you live in the grand old USA.

U r so right about the censorship in the u.s. it sucks that's why I love british tv shows because of the freedom of speech they have, anyways everything jennifer saunders does or is a part of is amazing because she is so brilliant, she's definitely my role model. I'd give anything to be a part of anything she does.

"Ab Fab is the best show on Earth. Yeah cheers thanks a lot, sweetie darling."

It was black humor- but it was some of the finest black humor to come along in a long while. And you can really only come to realization of how good the show is by seeing it's conclusion in the final episode. The whole series had been building on the fact that maybe, just maybe, Vivienne Vyle really saw what she was doing as exploitation. There always seemed to be a sliver of decency in her- unlike Helena or some of the other staff members.

However, to see how she reacted in the final episode, more specifically the final scene showed that she was truly an evil, manipulative person. The talk show parody was just a means to an end to show us the kind of person Vivienne really was. I think those who simply viewed this as a spoof on chat shows really didn't "get it" so to speak. It was really a character study about how far one person is able to go in order to achieve success.

Masterfully done by Jennifer.

I have to agree. The first show seemed a bit light. But that could have been me. Perhaps I was one of those who was expected a laugh a minute. Then I watched the next show and then the rest. Fabulous build up. The series did not disappoint. Nor did Saunders, as a writer and an actress. The show is brilliant. As one who works in television she and Tanya Byron have captured the behind-the-scenes essence perfectly: the backbiting, the double-crossing, the intensity, the dark humor. I look forward to subsequent series.
