When will they learn...

that a bunch of cliches stuck together in the wilderness with *insert animal or crazed person with the potential to be deadly here* after them DOES NOT make a good slasher/horror flick in and of itself! The only way this adds up to a good movie is when it's clever enough to know that that's all it is and works with it. This really does try, but sadly, is just not that clever.

The saving grace is that this movie is so freakin' idiotic that it becomes difficult to turn off... I kept wanting to know just how stupid they were going to go. The movie does have some really funny moments; not the ones they intended to be funny, but hey, beggars can't be choosers as to where their laughs come from. The acting is actually ok; better than a lot of the acting in these kinds of things. But as any actor will tell you, playing a stereotype with no character depth is the easiest thing in the world, so it's not like they were really being challenged. Ranger Bob does a great job considering what he's been given to work with. Honestly, it doesn't matter how well the characters are acted since you're usually rooting for the animals, not the kids anyway. Gotta love the scenes where kids talk about what they did that sent them there (followed shortly by their death scenes). Ahh... karma.

Anyway, the movie isn't terrible, there is absolutely nothing new or especially clever here, but if you like the "so bad they're good" movies, you probably won't mind it. I wouldn't recommend running out and renting it or anything, but if it's on tv go ahead and give it a shot, just be aware of what you're about to see.
