I'm kind of ashamed of myself for thinking about this movie more than I should, but what happened to the mother? At one point, she was lying there, dying, I suppose, from all those snake bites, but then her body just disappeared. There's never any indication that anyone recovered her body.

The snake's bites rendered mom paralyzed. Later (off-camera) the snake (Unteka) ate mom.

I just watched that scene and after the snake bites the mom a few times it then bites off one of her thumbs and swallows it leaving you to believe that it ate here bit by bit.
