Why this shouldn't have been made into a movie


The point of the book is that it's from the child's perspective. Nothing is made clear, we have to guess. For example, when people say "Jew", Bruno says they use a word he doesn't understand. But of course that's completely lost in the movie.

There is one improvement though, there's no electric fence in the book.

The whole idea is particularly absurd when the boys boil it down to the symbols they represent: the Swastika and the Star of David. They wonder why such fuss over such things.
