Damages Ending Similar to The Shield (Spoilers)

Maybe a simplistic view but the anti-climactic ending of damages felt very similar to the ending of the shield, which i think is one of the best endings to a TV show i've ever seen.

Damages kinda pulls off the same sense of ANTI-TRIUMPH and overall sense of "It wasn't really worth the hassel."

Obviously slightly different as Damages focuses more on the reationship and conflict between ellen and patty and the ending has a contrast in the characters that is satisfying.

I cant help but think though i'd have prefered to see the thankyou as real and Ellen go completely Darkside.

(just a meandering train of thought.)

PS. I was also a massive fan of Patty's white costume in the lim at then end, she looked like a haggard old version of Zuse from tron legacy.
