Ellen: possibly one of the most annoying characters in TV history?

Does anyone else find her difficult to watch? It might have just been the casting but her presence is very tiresome in every scene. The bland delivery, the facial expressions etc

I don't find her difficult to watch at all.

reply

I think she's a very good actress....good looking, too.

 The bad news is you have houseguests. There is no good news. 

Quite the opposite. Rose Byrne's acting improved as the seasons went on. It's evident whenever she has scenes with an acting giant like Glenn Close.

reply

You are alone, OP. She was magnifying and such a pleasure to watch.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't stand the Ellen character. However, I don't think it has anything to do with Rose Byrne who is a talented actress. The reason why I couldn't stand Ellen Parsons is because she is a complete contradiction. At least Patty Hewes is honest about what she wants.

I absolutely hated Ellen by Season 4. I'm not talking about the actress, but the character. She was so smug and arrogant. I loved Patti. She was on top of everything. I'm sad the series has ended. It was so good. Glenn Close is one of the best actresses out there. Ted Danson was really good too. I'm having a hard time finding another good series on Netflix to watch.

I was prepared to be annoyed by her because of this post...but I wasn't. I liked that her character was conflicted throughout the show and that she had a strength of character that Patty lacked.

Rose Byrne difficult to watch? I sure hope your insurance covers opthalmology.

reply

I really like the development of the character. I don't find her difficult to watch at all.

I created an account here to add that the only people who oppose your statement are those who enjoy her LOOKS.

Between her acting, lack of emotion, dead stares, and apparent anorexia after season 1, we found her annoying and obnoxious.

To her defense, I haven't seen her in anything else so perhaps they directed her to act in such a manner (although it was a horrific call if so).
