Do not see this movie.

If I hadn't gone with two friends, I would have left the movie house.

The acting was overly dramatic and pushed. The story wasn't even an exciting one to begin with, and furthermore, the execution was ugly. It was hard to sit through.

I don't even have enough energy or desire to keep elaborating on this, as it's a waste of time, but the movie was a complete waste of time and money to watch. It's too bad all of the money and energy going into the film's production wasn't put into planting trees or feeding people.

Wishing I could get those two hours back...

"...execution was ugly"

Are you sure you watched the film Broken Embraces, by director Pedro Almodovar? I'm pretty sure you didn't or rather you must not have an eye for beautiful, picturesque shots that are typical of his films. And this film had many of those scenes.

Perhaps a film like Transformers is more of your preference. Why not stick to those films that don't require any intellectual involvement from the viewer? Besides, it'll save you money so you can go plant trees and feed people, because that's what you do with your money, right?

reply

so just because he expressed that he did not like this movie, that means the only movies he should like is movies like transformers? I personally really like almodovar movies, but I did not enjoy this one, it wasn't bad, but not good either...

reply

I just got home from seeing the movie, and I liked it. Yes, I have seen BETTER Almodovar pictures, but I thought this was quite good, albeit a bit long, but I think most movies are too long.
PS. I slept through Avatar.

so we all have different tastes. Aint it great?

reply

seriously. Do people really have to insult each other's personal taste just because someone doesn't agree with them?

This thread is pretty pointless though. So you just came here to b*tch about the movie? Since you're so vague, it's pretty hard to understand why you didn't like the flick.

reply

Don't feed the troll...don't give the troll attention.

Most of us go to threads of films we enjoyed, not to bash them. Write a review in that case.

"I don't even have enough energy or desire to keep elaborating on this, as it's a waste of time..."

Boo hoo. Go cry on your pillow or something.

I was moved, cried and laughed. The cinematography was great, just as the acting and music. It's not a masterpiece but is a moving movie!

reply

I agree with you in not giving a troll attention, but I don't agree on the fact that we should just comment on movies that we enjoyed... otherwise Roger Ebert and others would become trolls every time they give bad reviews.

Anyway, I usually enjoy Almodovar's movies. Atame, Tacones Lejanos, Todo Sobre Mi Madre, and Hable Con Ella are my favourite ones. However, I've gotta say I was pretty disappointed with this one. It lacked the drama and intricate plot that are always present in his movies. Some of my friends enjoyed the references to all his other movies, but I was honestly having a hard time staying interested.

Since I usually like him, I'm watching the movie again on Saturday... Maybe I will see or hear something I didn't last night, and it would make a better impact on me. At this point, I don't like the movie.

I reckon Almodovar is the best director alive today but this one isn't one of his best

Though I have seen eleven of Almodovar's films, it is one of the lesser ones I've seen, certainly the least of the four he has done with Penelope Cruz. I can identify with srkredliner's disappointment but hope you give Almodovar another chance if you haven't already. He's made some excellent films. Like Hitchcock he's best when he mixes comedy with his drama. When he doesn't it can be trying at times--he can get too much like Saura, who's great but not everyone's cup of tea if you don't have a lot of patience for that kind of storytelling technique.

It was ok. I do find Pedro slightly overrated as a director
