For all those complaining about the reward

Just because the $42 million burned up doesn't mean it's gone. It will be always be insured. It's just paper. I'd rather the money burned than end up in the hands of those *beep*

Bank notes are just representation of the money. They destroy old bank notes all the time and print new ones. Unused bank notes are easily replaced.

Those were new, unused 100$ banknotes. The bank has a record of serial numbers, using any of these bank notes would have been revealed them, maybe not immediately, but eventually FBI would have pinpointed them. Basically they were robbing pile of worthless paper!

Well, there is also the fact that he participated in the heist at first. His only witness is the cop he saved and he arrived late at the party. Ty could have been the murderer of that hobo for example. And at the least he is partly responsible for the destruction of those two trucks.

Of course we as an empathic audience would grant him a reward but that's not how the law works. There are plenty of incidents where people get punished for doing the objectively and morally right thing.

But that makes that neat little twist at the end so nice.
