Give me parental Advisory :D (Please!)

So, this is MA15+ in Australia, which is the highest rating other than resticted. Its for violence
I was just wondering how gory it is. My sister who is 13 wants to watch it but neither of us like gory stuff.
Thanks :)

I can't really say, sorta. I'm not particularly sensitive to such.

The gore revolves around an ebola-like virus, which causes open bleeding pustules on the skin and bleeding from the ears and eyes. Nominally it's not all that pretty, but it's somewhat limited by the quality of the makeup artists, who are adequate but not great. A fair number of people are affected by the disease, for what that is worth, and some of them are acknowledged as dying/dead in the course of the movie. There's also another scene which is hard to describe without spoilers but is mildly horrific, but its relevant to the motivation of the young female protagonist (around the age of your sister), so it's called for.

I don't think a 13yo *should* have a problem with it, but
a) I don't have kids (old enough to have grandkids, though)
b) I think people vastly underestimate the resilience of kids in this regard anyway.

I just finished watching it, and my recollection is that the gore is limited mainly to three scenes, but they are probably moderately long, maybe 10-15 minutes total. It doesn't linger, but they do aim to make it a point that this is a particularly nasty threat to humanity.

So take my opinion and the description of the above and consider that for whatever you can. If you really think gore is bad, then you probably won't like seeing it.

OTOH, you get to look at "L" for a huge amount of the picture, he's in most scenes. Even I can see young girls would consider him adorable.

Wow, thanks :)
I think it sounds OK, so I'll have a look first before buying it for her, but from the sounds of it I should be able to handle it ;)
Thanks a lot!
