Sound and Fury was so angry and conflicted. This was centered on two people who were clearly happy people who wanted more and after an big adjustment period, were still the same happy people. I really enjoyed this film.
Hate to sound like a broken record, but I really enjoyed it too. They seemed like truly decent, grounded, loving people. That their daughter made such a film just confirms that. And the parents' relationship appears so loving.
The one part that did bug me a little was when Sally comes out of her surgery and immediately starts crying. She's very emotional and venerable at that point. I assumed the daughter was holding the camera, because if that was my Mom, I would've given her a nice, long hug.
But then the camera pans to the right, we see her daughter is just standing there like some stranger. Some one else is actually filming.
I know when you're doing a documentary, you have to maintain neutrality. But NOT when it's your mother who needs you at a time like that.
i thought this was a wonderful film also. it shows people that a ci isn't a quick fix. i wondered why they did not get therapeutic support post implantation though. i also wanted to give sally a big hug. i felt so sad for her disappointment during the time after activation.
