Cultural Differences

If you would've asked any American soldier during WW2 why he joined the army I'm sure the same answer would've kept popping up over and over again... "I JOINED TO KILL ME SOME JAPS and/or NAZIS!". In this film, I found it quite interesting when they asked a former Japanese soldier why he joined and his answer was "we had to fall like the petals from flowers... it was our destiny". That made the hairs on the back of my neck stand.

... I just found that interesting... that's all.

I would guarantee you that wasn't the American response. The United States isn't a country full of hicks. These were young men drafted to defend their country- speculating that they'd all say some racist garbage is just plain nonsense.
