Just randomly thought of this and thought I'd ask...

I thought of this film when trying to make a point about kids' movies, and was it just me, or was this film just HORRENDOUSLY bad? I'll gladly still watch some movies from my childhood that are now considered downright corny, but I remember when this was advertised at the cinema. I was horrified at how bad it looked. A few years on I had to watch it (can't remember why) and turns out I was right. I haven't come onto the WALL-E board to deliberately slag it off, just to attempt to justify my opinion. I must've blanked it out since I found it so poor, but from what I half-remember there's no dialogue at all for the first hour apart from robot noises, and the first 20 minutes is Wall-E cleaning up the planet's surface. There seemed to be no discernible plot whatsoever.

It's just you -- I saw it last night for the first time and it's great. There wasn't much dialog in the first half but it didn't need any, so good and inventive was the film in its visual storytelling. And yes there's quite clearly a plot.

Nope. "I think <something> is bad" is not an argument. Would be nice if people posting complaints would realize that. Care to elaborate a bit on why is it bad?

The only 'justification' of your opinion is that the first half with no dialogue, which most agree is what made the movie. Conveying emotions through basically mute robots is the movie's biggest strength and it's what made it unique. I'm sorry that you need constant dialogue for something to be entertaining, but art is at it's best when it's showing, not telling.
