Blu-Ray problem

I've had my Blu-Ray player since February 2007, and this is the first disc I've bought that won't play. I took it back to Best Buy and it played on their newer machine ... after taking almost five minutes to load.

The only other disc I've had problems with was "Premonition". I rented it from Netflix, exchanged it & got the same problem. It also wouldn't play at the Magnolia Hi-Fi where I bought the player --- they tried it on two machines with the same result. I rented it on regular DVD (not that it was worth the trouble.)

The other recent BR disc I bought is "300", which played fine.

I suppose I need to see if there's a firmware update available for my BR ... just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with the Blu-Ray version of this disc.

OMG, I had the same problems, my Doctor Strange would not play, and my Premonition would not load, it did play on my PS3, but, not my regular Blu-ray Disc player in my movie room, I have a Samsung BDP-1000, I just updated the firmware for it a week or so ago, so, I'm hoping that fixes the problem, I haven't tried to watch them since then, also, I couldn't play Marvel Ultimate Avengers 1/2 disc. Maybe you need to update your firmare also.

I had the same problem with Premonition. I just rented that one so I didn't worry about it too much, just rented a Standard DVD.

I will probably get the firmware updated soon. Thanks!

I would update the firmware asap, depending on the type of Blu-ray player you have, I went to Samsung's web-site and downloaded the file and burned it to a disc and updated mine that way, your's might be able to do the same thing, my PS3 updates all of the time since it's hooked to my wireless network. Also, if you read the little slips that come in the Blu-ray and HD DVDs they all say they might not play on your player if your firmware is not up to date, but also be carefull when playing regular DVDs in your blu-ray player because Samsung told me that it is not recommended, and it is messing up some peoples players.

I got the firmware update and the movie now plays, but strange things happen. When I hit stop, I get the message "Resume Off" on the display, and the movie goes back to the beginning. When I restarted the movie and tried to use a scene selection, the film locked up.

This is apparently due to the BD-Java feature, which creates the same problem with THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and FANTASTIC FOUR 2.
