Not bad but could have been better

Animation:

The animation is bright, colorful, but not that fluid, it is mostly choppy and looks rushed. The costume designs are great but the CG special effects were very bad. Especially the tornados, which looked pixely straight out of a Super Nintendo game and the flying mouths (think The Langoliers).

Story/Screenplay:

I know this is an 'origins' movie but it seemed that the movie began very well and then sped up so quickly that by the time it got to the final battle, it left me confused as to how fast Dr. Strange got his powers!

The screenplay was on par with the other Marvel animated movies except the relationship between Strange and his deceased sister was rushed and it almost screamed of incest (when his sister sits on top of strange and they look at each other).

Action

The best part of this short 95 minute animated movie was the action (its selling point) which was unique and the addition of magical powers allowed for a very imaginative and creative way of fighting.

All in all, its worth watching, but don't expect it to blow you away. There were many missed opportunities and the animation was not fluid at all.

I thought this was surprisingly good. Much better then their previous efforts.
The whole thing with Strange becoming this supremely powerful wizard who knows what he's doing didn't surprise me. These kind of stories always have that element of the uninitiated all of a sudden becoming vastly powerful.

What did bother me a bit was Strange and his sister because we never see their parents. Were they dead and Strange was raising her while he went through med school? Also, their had to be a considerable age difference if he went to college, pre-med, and then med school with her being a teen. Unless he was able to jump ahead several grades. Not to mention having a new surgeon doing such a enormous job, by himself, as his first gig and it's on his sister? I found that hard to swallow.

Other then that, I really had no complaints.

I think HIPPA has a rule against operating on your own family and friends.
