One thing I don't understand...

Why was it necessary for DG to find the emerald? It seemed that the witch simply not having it was enough to stop her plan. So what was the point of DG going to find it? Couldn't it just have stayed hidden, then Azkadelia couldn't use it? They didn't use it for anything else...

If nothing else, maybe they needed to use it to get the Wicked Witch's spirit out of Azkadellia?

What we see and what we seem are but a dream. A dream within a dream.

Think it was needed to destroy the witch's spirit and free Azkadelia

Good vs evil, DG had to have it so good could take over. Her sister had to have it to keep from being defeated.

Just because Azkadelia doesn't know where it is now, it doesn't mean she won't find it herself eventually - what with having an entire army at her disposal. And DG discovers that she has the power to use it to stop her. Simply foiling Azkadelia's plan would be fine - but if you can stop her completely then that's even better. Alternately they might think it could make a good bargaining tool

I might be remembering wrong but don't they only decide to go after the emerald once they all escape from the prison? And it's the Tutor who encourages them to go after it right? Since he's working for Azkadelia it'd make sense he'd encourage them to find it

I'm gonna die of long hair!
