Their children will get it in the end!

After their parents death it seems life goes on for Karl, Klaus and Karolin ... but my consolation is knowing that if these people were real, they will get whats coming to them in the end!

Franzi will realize she is so much better than Karolin (who actually pawns off her own parents to her because she can't be bothered and makes her take them around) and leave her.

Klaus and his wife (Emma?) will grow up and realize their kids treat them the same way as they treated Rudi and Trudi (Remember the kids? All they cared about was their video games!)

Karl will probably die alone.

Oh, you are so positive.

That's a good point about Klaus and his wife and their kids. The way Rudi and Trudi's kids treated them made me sick. I can't fathom treating my parents like that...especially pawning them off on my partner like Karolin did. I was surprised it got even worse after their mother died. You'd think they'd realize what little time they had left with their father and not take it for granted. But nope they just carried on.

But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say 'S***!, it's raining!'

Uh?

I am gay and twelve, do you have a problem with that?

What is interesting (and eerie in some ways) was that a Japanese film from 1953 showed the disintegration of the modern family and how grown children neglect their aging parents.

The film is called "Tokyo Story" and it's eerie in that the children in that film are as uncaring and neglectful toward their parents as the children in this film are toward their parents. Yet, that film was made almost 60 years ago, showing that this uncaring attitude is nothing new and seems to be universal. Very sad & it will only continue to worsen as children of today are already in their own worlds with their computers, video games and texting.

Lesson to be learned? Don't have kids or if you do: better be prepared that they likely won't have time for you when they are grown and have left.

You've done some bad things, sweetie.

Indeed, a bunch of selfish, self absorbed dummkopfs. The youngest daughter will most certainly end up in the German scat film industry.

I don't feel bitter towards the children. Yeah they act self-centered, but they just haven't really grown up yet. They are in a totally different phase of life, and it's often difficult in parent-child relationships to really get along. That's just family. I do see myself in some of it, because for me it's really hard to be civil and nice with my mother because she drives me nuts. But I often feel sorry about it - as do they - and I'm sure when they are older and more experienced with life they will get their parents and maybe even realize what their father was experiencing during his last days.
