Help!

I am not a TV fanatic, and I am rarely ever blown away by a script, but my god, this highly realistic and hilarious show has filled my heart with warmth and happiness over the last few days! Please can somebody recommend other such shows so I can prolong this magical feeling within??

I know what you mean, I've been thinking the same thing. I wish they had written more episodes. Try Outnumbered perhaps, for that witty and funny but also sweet, feel-good feeling.

Dunno about "realistic", but for other British dramadies (comedy/dramas - no laugh track/live audience) that make you all warm inside, you might try Doc Martin (2004).

Or for a similar buddy relationship like the dynamic between Gavin and his best mate, Smithy, you might like Spaced (1999), with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Although, there's a lot of pop culture references targeted specifically at X Gen, so if you're not X Gen, there's a good chance it mightn't work for you.

Others have mentioned Derek, so I'll suggest another Gervais project, Extras (2005), if only for the Xmas special.

Or perhaps even Green Wing (2004), a quirky hospital dramedy with a lot of sped-up/slo-mo edits set to music as a way of gluing scenes together. Not to everyone's tastes.

Sky Living's Trying Again (2014) had a similar vibe to Gavin and Stacey but may lean more to the drama side of dramedy.

American sitcom Ned and Stacey (1995) used the similar premise of a titular couple marrying quickly and each having a best pal who turn out to have the more compelling love/hate relationship as secondary characters. Of course, that show had the burden of trying to pretend the Ned character was hetero as-sketched. The series died out and was essentially reworked as Will & Grace (1998) which went on to a successful run.

Mad Love (2011), for as long as it lasted, used a very similar trope to Gavin and Stacey.

Better with You (2010) was also not a mile away with the basic setup if you toss in say Gavin's mum and dad as the older third couple while spreading the dramatic plots of the other two pairings more evenly among the two sisters and their partners. There's no Smithy/Nessa grittiness but a good amount of thinly hidden dislike within the elder one's marriage.

The American (Fox) remake attempt with Jason Ritter, Us & Them (2013), never made it to the schedule.

Eeek!!! I'm getting dressed.
