Have seen Braindead and Premutos. Braindead is a little gorier. Like Braindead, Premutos saves the highlights for the final 20 minutes...

Cant wait to see THIS movie though, it looks extremely wild...

Braindead is one of my favorite horror movies, and my favorite (zombie) splatter film, even if it has only just humor, comedy and drama in the first half. The comedy is obviously found throughout the whole film, so that's what it takes away almost all of its shock gore value, and it's extremelly fun. Definitely the goriest I've seen.

Premutos, on the other hand, although gory and with over the top violence and gore, has very cheap effects and dumb comedy, definitely not a flick not worth paying for, not even for rent, although you're a to-the-bone-fan gore puppy. Sure thing is, if you're looking forward to see tons of nice decapitations, Premutos is for you.

Both are famous splatters. Braindead, even so, is more clever and better developed, and the limbs, dismemberments, teared off organs, bones and skin and etc etc, are just genius and believable, of course, talking about an over the top, gory & hilarious zombie blood feast. I consider Braindead gorier, haven't seen Das Komabrutale Duell because I've been somewhat p#$$! lately, and also because here, in Mexico, is 99.99999999% impossible to find (obviously). The first time I saw the trailer I was shocked for life, despite the cheap gore effects, because it caught me off guard, my mistake, so rewatched it several times to get over it. Now I have no problem.

If the subject is about deciding which one is the goriest, even without watching DKD, I could say Braindead. Talking about disturbing or "realistic" is another thing...

Just an opinion of a 16 year old.

Das Komabrutale Duell WOULD be the goriest film ever made, if it weren't for the sheer ineptitude of the effects! They are so bad, they make the first Violent Sh!t look like Ichi the Killer. DKD is worth watching for the inventive kills and unintentional humor, though. Ironically, the opening, which was shot in the 1980's on terrible equipment, has the best effects in the whole film (gunshots).

For quantity of gore, Braindead is the winner. Premutos has some great scenes, but cannot compete with the lawnmower sequence. I have my doubts that there will ever be a gore flick to dethrone Braindead.

reply

After Over A Year, You've Been Proven Wrong. The New Philosy Of A Knife Broke The Record For Most Goriest Film, That's Been Held For Over 15 Years.

reply

In my opinion, Premutos is the winner... more quantity of gore than Braindead and much higher body count... Both show people torn to shreds by a variety of weapons, Braindead may be more artistic and creative but Premutos actually attempts to outdo it, I've never seen so many bodies torn apart one after the other. It's just a gore assault. Braindead is an overall better movie, and has the fun factor but the gore is unbelievable in Premutos. DKD is extreme as well, but too cheap looking. However I'd say it may have the most blood ever spilled in a movie... and may be the most off the wall rhidiculous splatter ever.

I have also heard Philosophy of a Knife tops them all and I believe it. Other ones that could enter the discussion possibly: the Burning Moon (also by Ittenbach), GP: Flowers of Flesh and Blood, Story of Ricky, Aftermath, possibly even Zombie 90. These are not quite at the top of the list.

reply

Philosophy of a Knife cheats by being in black and white. I don't think there's any way they could have pulled off that movie in color. So it's tough to call it the goriest.

reply

It's been a while and I thought I would revisit this discussion. After re-watching PHILOSOPHY OF A KNIFE once, I've come to the conclusion that while it is indeed one of the most violent flicks ever, it doesn't surpass these three. The gallons of blood spilled aren't what make it seem so darn bloody but rather the brutality.

To the world you may just be somebody, but to somebody you may just be the world.

I would add the following as definite contenders:

Helldriver
The Machine Girl
Tokyo Gore Police
Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl
Blood Pigs
Graveyard of the Living Dead (directed by Mark Rohnstock)

The 4 Japanese films maybe the 4 bloodiest films of all time. Some might say they are just extremely bloody and not all that gory but blood and gore go hand in hand. I'd like to see someone make a gorefest without a drop of blood.

I hear the soon to be released Mutant Girls Squad tops them all though.

Rohnstock's latest Necronos is quite gory as well thought not quite a contender, the same goes for Karl the Butcher vs. Axe.

reply

I saw the trailer for Necronos at the European Weekend of Horrors in Germany last November (and met the cast and crew) and it looked awesome. However, I'll reserve judgement as far as 'the bloodiest film ever goes' 'cos there are so many contenders (only the other day I saw another real possibilty — Adam Chaplin — which is spectacularly gory).

reply

Yeah, Adam Chaplin is up there on the gore list but I don't think it tops any of those recent Japanese splatter-fests. Maybe if they hadn't wasted a half hour on a pointless character in the middle of the film.

reply

c'mon, man. you can not seriously call THIS "gore". it has nothing to do with gore.

reply

2 German gore films I've seen recently may surpass all the rest for gore- A *beep* Cruel Nightmare and Untot Undead Unleashed.

Has anyone else seen any recent ultra-gorefests?
