I was wondering this too. They should at least have said that both her and Stefan had moved to a different town or something, rather that totally ignore it.Maybe we will find out in a later episode.
There's a good reason why Linda can't have moved away with Stefan, don't read the spoiler below if you don't want to know:
In series 1's final episode 'The Secret' Stefan committed suicide
I rather suspect they decided not to write the character of Linda out because of sensitivity towards the memory of Johanna Sällström and her family. If they said she had gone to another town or that she had died it would maybe have been not tactful considering the real life tragedy , I think they got it just right with an enigmatic nod from Kurt towards her photograph.
Hmm,I don't remember the end of that episode. Can't even remember if I saw it,but Im sure I did.
shareI haven't seen Series 2 yet. I was already very sad about the tragic death of Johanna Sallstrom and I am also very sorry to hear that that Stefan has gone as well. Ola Rapace is a great actor and like Johnanna (a most appealing actress) had a very strong character as Stefan and the interplay between them made for great TV; a sad loss. I hope the new characters prove equally appealing.
shareI was very apprehensive about series 2, as oldbadger says series 1 was largely built around Stefan and Linda.
I've been pleasantly surprised so far - most of the episodes have had some good twists, although I feel the mood is notably less dark than the first series.
A very touching moment in Vålnaden where Kurt/Krister looks like he's "filling up" when he and Katarina discuss the difficulties of raising their respective daughters - a blink and you'd miss it tribute to how much Johanna was respected by Krister and the team, perhaps.
shareIt was very touching, and the greatest indicator yet that the character of Linda has been given an unspoken sad end.
I think it would be very much within the character of Kurt not to discuss his loss.
Nacho, there's little point writing "spoiler" AFTER informing everybody that Stefan was written out in "a very final way", a euphemism that will not pass by many.
I remember that episode. My father and I sat down for what we hoped would be the usual Wallander blend and ended up not being able to move from the couch. To say the producers forgot that they are meant to be entertaining us, not pulverizing us into submission is an understatement.
I didn't think they could carry on without Linda Wallander, but they've done a surprising job. This second series is shaping up to be a bit of a classic. Now why can't we make something like this in Britain? And no, the irony hasn't escaped me.
Apologies Gary - I've edited it.
