Gunvald, the difficult child

I started watching quite recently with series 5. Then when I saw that series 6 was being shown on uk telly I grabbed those 4 eps and devoured them. I decided to look into the earlier eps and found that the films have mostly been very strong from the start.
I really like the ongoing plot lines, because they give the series as a whole an epic feel.

When I saw the last 2 series I thought Gunvald was interesting but he didn't really stand out. After the 2nd episode of the most recent I started reading here how hard his death/Mikael Persbrandt's departure had hit the show. It's only now that I've gone back to the beginning that I realise how HOT Gunvald/Persbrandt was! He was(is) such a handsome man and the character's harsh exterior masking a tender heart makes him tremendously attractive in all sorts of ways.
Phwaor!

So, all of this is to say that it took his death for me to pay attention to his brilliance. You don't know what you have until it's gone.

I have gotten a film Persbrandt did called Hævnen (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1340107/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_15). It looks quite good.

That sounds a good film. I'd noticed that Persbrandt seems to have some special empathy with children (in real life, I've read he's been involved in the cause of African child soldiers), and seems to be drawn to material that deals with the young and their problems. Some of his best moments in Beck came out of that sort of thing.

Like you, I'm saddened to know he won't be coming back to the show, but I hope his career continues on unimpeded.
