not bad but let down by terrible cgi

ok so i wanted to like this movie but to be honest i found the amazingly bad cgi blood and gore fx a big turn off.it is of course very low budget so i'm prepared to cut it some slack but guys come on.....i just can't forgive some of the cheap and terrible looking blood fx and early 90's computer graphic style zombie explosions.

I thought the practical F/X they did use more than made up for the CGI, but I think most CGI looks terrible, especially blood F/X. It's just rarely pulled off well, so I'm not going to take an indie movie to task over it.

I agree. Some of the zombie explosions looked like confetti. They kept getting worse towards the end of the film.

***SPOILERS***

I expected a huge bloodbath at the end, when the guy with the cure in his bloodstream sacrificed himself to the zombies. I mean it's a huge horde of zombies literally exploding, you'd think there'd be an insane amount of blood. But instead it was the embarrassing CGI.

But, as already mentioned, it was just a crappy little zombie flick, so I didn't mind. I laughed out loud a few times, sometimes at the intentional comedy (like when the pimp kept getting startled), and sometimes just at the silliness/awful special effects. Some of that blood was horrid; I've seen at least two different videos that tell you how to make decent blood, as special features on other low-budget zombie flicks. Should be required viewing for this special effects guy.

But yeah I dug the film overall, as long as I laughed a few times it suited me fine.

I wanted to buy this, but thanks to you, I'll keep my money for something else.

CG gore *beep* sucks! Gore shouldn't be computer generated.
