I thought this film was based of Kurt Cobain's life!

I saw the trailer for this film. The main character, Joe Anderson, seriously looked a lot like Kurt Cobain. And I thought this film was acting out how Cobain's life was before committing suicide at the age of 27. I mean, they looked exactly alike, and in the film, he didn't like to be famous.
I saw their interviews on the red carpet, and Anderson explained that in the plot, Elliot rides off with his partner - not his sexual partner. I believed that was supposed to be based on Cobain's longtime friend, Krist Novoselic.

But anyway, this seems like an interesting film, since it is like a differant version of Cobain's life.

Was actually going to post something of that ilk, after seeing JA in Across the Universe, I kept banging on about how, if they're making a Nirvana film then it should be him to play Cobain. And now there's this irony that he's in a film about a rock star who kills himself at 27.... and it's not him. :P

I'm pretty sure there are some intentional nods to Kurt, but I don't think it's at all based on Kurt's life. There are quite a few movies (both documentary and fictional) that come a lot closer than this seems to to Kurt's early life and rise to fame.
