I'm sorry but what an unlikable character (spoilers)

I'm gonna quit my job that feeds me and my baby to say goodbye to the man who is leaving eventho he already said bye to me the day before.

I'm not gonna have a normal conversation as to why you should marry me instead I'm going to throw a tantrum out of nowhere and be super dramatic over it.

I'm looking for marriage but let me give you all the free sex you could want before you really get to even know me.

I know you're married but my bf just left so let me show you a good time and then expect you to drop everything including your wife to come save me eventho all I did was take my clothes off.

I'm gonna 'cheat' on you but be dumb enough to leave evidence behind.

etc...

You're not very experienced when it comes to people, are you? This was not a "normal" woman. People who produce great poetry rarely are.

Ingrid was obviously manic-depressive, and her libidinous nature was just as obviously spawned by her subconscious longing for a proper father to replace the cold father who treated her and her sister so poorly. Classic Freudian psychiatry at work.

You can't judge everybody's actions by your own limited knowledge.

Like I said, an unlikable character.

Immature and ignorant. I don't know how you'll manage when you have to deal with people with ways so very different from your parochial attitudes. Or perhaps you never will - maybe you'll always play safe by mixing with people as closed-minded as yourself.

::yawn::

You mean because you're a darling to talk to? How many times did you judge me and put me in a bad light yet I've called you no names. You don't know me so don't act like sitting behind a computer analyzing someone for disliking a character in a movie makes you some higher being because it doesn't. Talk about closed-minded!!!! p.s. Feel free to reply but know that it won't reach me as I am blocking you since I don't need negative hate from strangers making dumb assumptions about my relationship with people in real life :s

reply

You're wrong. Just deal with it and move on. It's really no big deal.

Your debating abilities are most impressive.

Although I wouldn't express myself quite the same way at the OP, I agree somewhat. I don't think she was completely unlikeable, but she is certainly someone I could never be married to.

Watching this movie, I had flashbacks to a couple of crazy girlfriends that I had in the past. You get totally enchanted by the aspect of her personality that is sweet, charming and exciting one moment and then repelled when she becomes totally bat-crap crazy the next. I have complete empathy for the guys in her life. In any relationship, you take the good and the bad together and these guys saw the good in her and wanted to be around it. Ultimately the bad was just too extreme and they couldn't be with her.

It's a pity she didn't get the kind of help she really needed.

I was watching the scene where Ingrid was holding the crying baby and shouting and I wondered why people bother with any of that. A lot of people are like that, so when you see it in a movie, accept the performance as realistic.
