What the heck do they do with all their spare time?

I was trying to figure out just how much time is elapsing in this game. It appears that they are on 3 day cycles just like survivor. It seems like day 1 is a boat day, day two is the challenge and day 3 is pirate court. Which means that based on what little we are seeing, they must have a ton of downtime sitting around the boat a/o the beach.

Jay said last week that it had been two weeks. The next day they cast off the 5th person, so at 3 days that would be 15 days, so his comment then makes sense. I've also noticed that when they go to the challenge it is daylight, but when they return it is pitch black, which indicates they spend the day on the island (doing confessional interviews and relaxing I'm sure). Sean said last week after they got back from the challenge "that tomorrows vote should be interesting" so Pirate court definitely occurs the next day.

None of them seem to be complaining about lack of food (like Survivor)and the ship doesn't really appear to be sailing anywhere, so the so called chores and rigging they are doing appears to be mainly for camera shots. So what the heck goes on during all that time. Are they going back to their make-up trailers, or do you think they are just lounging around on the beach everyday? Considering most of what we see relates to the captain and officers selecting the three black marks and the rest pre-post challenge confessionals, there isn't much to indicate what's going on the rest of the time.

I think we do get to see some of it. I imagine the players just sit around in the cabins and badmouth each other and then discuss endless strategies which will never come to light.

But yeah, unlike Survivor, they don't have to go fetch wood or boil water or gather food. They do have to cook some food, however. And, they seem to do a lot of swabbing the deck, but I assume that that is mainly for the cameras.

One episode showed Azmyth and some others jumping in the water from the ship. Although THAT was for the cameras, I'd guess a good amount of that goes on during the down time. Shooting the confessionals can take an excruciating amount of time, which is then edited down to a concise sound byte.
