How the women could run the table

One of the popular women approaches Joy or Kendra, or whoever is on the Black Team, and says "throw the challenge". Pretend you're injured or whatever, and that will let us get rid of the captain and his officers. And we'll cut you in on the treasure.

So Joy or Kendra throws the challenge.

A woman is now elected Captain. (Joe Don wouldn't be, and Louie said he wouldn't mind having a woman Captain.)

That woman now selects the two strongest WOMEN as her officers, leaving Kendra and Joy to always compete on the Red team. Regardless of which men end up on the Red team, Kendra and Joy will drag them down (either unintentionally or intentionally).

But the Captain never nominates either Kendra or Joy. She always selects men for the black spot. And men always go home.

And that's how the women could run the table.

(Of course, if Azmyth and his Officers were smart enough to figure this out and make a pact with Louie or Joe Don to always throw a challenge for a fee, then the men could run the table in the same way.)

In a broad sense your plan isn't bad, but there are a few fatal flaws.

1.) First and foremost, Joy is no longer part of the crew, she was cut adrift last week.

2.) There is no guarantee that you can engineer getting two weak women on the black team, or conversely getting the three strongest on the red team.

The basis of your plan is built on one premise, the red team wins, nominates a woment captain, and the woman captain takes with her the two strongest women. I agree this would be a great plan, but possibly not feasable.

First, the new officers, as we are lead to believe anyway, are chosen from the winning team. I believe that was indicated in the first episode and we have never seen a case where the officer(s) were selected from a losing team. Second, by random draw you are assuming that the two weakest women would end up on the black team and the 3 remaining on the red team. Great on paper, but not very likely.

And the big thing, what incentive is their to throw the challenge. Let's say you do, you are now on the losing team and get no treasure. Granted you could bargain for part of it, and not getting the black spot, as part of the betrayal, but what happens the next challenge. If they keep the teams balanced, and the new black team has three women officers, that means the betrayer remains on the red team, with a less chance of winning. So in the end game (unless they change the rules) where is the incentive for the betrayer?

It's tough not knowing the endgame, and because teams (other than the three officers) change weekly, it's hard to convince someone to throw the challenge because although it changes the game, it really doesn't help them individually.

Yeah! I was thinking the same thing while I was watching too... the crew should have gotten together ahead of time and say whoever gets put on the black team, throw the competition so they lose and then they will be given an equal cut of the treasure afterwards! Then a new captain woman will get voted in! I was shocked they didn't think of that!

My bad on Joy being gone...I hadn't watched the episode yet. (TiVo)

Clearly, financial reward would be the key. If the women all get together and conspire to split the treasure equally, regardless of which team wins, then they would rule the day. But they wouldn't even have to all get together...just enough of them to ensure that there's always two of them on different teams. An alliance of 3 of the women would have been enough to make this happen.

The woman (or women) who end up on the Black team throw the competition, and the new Red Woman captain follows through with the plan as outlined in the previous post. You still only need 3 women to make it work.

Woman #1, Captain
Woman #2, Officer
Woman #3, normal member of crew, who always competes on Red Team once the Woman Captain takes over, and always throws the competition. And is never nominated by the Captain.

The second Officer is also a Woman, but she isn't actually in on the 3-person Alliance.

For example, Christa-Kendra-Laurel have the alliance. Whoever's on the Black Team throws the competition, causing Christa to become Captain (assuming she's on the Red Team).

Christa chooses Laurel and Nessa to be officers. Kendra will now always be on the Red Team, but Christa will never nominate her, because Kendra's getting a share of the treasure and will always throw competitions. Nessa isn't told about Kendra's extra cut of the booty, which comes out of the Captain's oversized share.

And the women run the table.

But they weren't smart enough to figure that out and now they're as good as gone.
