HOW MANY MOVIES DID IT REFERENCE?

Ok apart from django i spotted a refernce to For a few dollars more was there any others?

It clearly referenced Yojimbo/Fistful of Dollars. The idea of roval gangs controlling a town and a nameless stranger arriving and both gangs trying to sway him to their side comes straight from those films. The woman separated from her son also is lifted from those films but is treated a little differently here. The armor worn by the leader of the red gang also referenced the film where Clint Eastwood wore a stove plate over his chest to protect him from the bad guys rifle fire while he moved into pistol range. I think that one was For a Few Dollars More.

Leone got sued for Fistful by Kurosawa who wrote a letter saying the film was pretty good, which Leone took and used by copyright lawsuit letter as a calling card.

An anime called Cowboy bebop on the last fight.

There were quite a few that I noticed, of the ones that I can remember off hand are : Django(obviously), Man with no Name (aka Dollars)Trilogy, Akira, Yojimbo.
I've read an opinion about Kill Bill being referenced as well(B.B.).

The way the gunman played both sides reminded me of Last Man Standing.

Apocalypse Now, "smells like... Victory!"

Obviously Yojimbo (it is even mentioned "don't go pulling a Yojimbo on us" (ie, don't play us off against each other).

I saw a lot of Afro Samurai in the Genji with his Afro and his bullet slicing :)

Kurosawa-Sanjuro
