The most profane movie ever?

I'm not offended by profanity in a movie, but I think this is probably the most profane movie I have ever seen. I have to go back and actually count all the bombs that were dropped but based on its seventy-two minute running time this horse could be the winner of the Kentucy Derby. Gotta run and do some counting.

reply

You bought up a good point. I saw the movie again and started doing some of my own counting. At times there was so much overlapping profanity it was hard to count but I came up with 228 of them. That averages out to about three per minute. Your right this may be the winner.

reply

I don't know, "The Big Leboski" rang up over 200 uses of the "F"-word alone.

reply

Yeah, but what is the run time of that movie? The Living and the dying is seventy two minutes. Everything needs to be in a unit rate e.g. profanity per minute.

reply

Plus, when you subtract opening and closing credits, The Living and the Dying only runs about 64 minutes. That averages out to four per minute. Now, who's got a count on the number of F-bombs?

reply

I like movies with foul language so I really didn't pay attention to all the cussing but it is interesting. After thinking about it your right, there is a lot of #$%@* bombs in the movie. Now, I'm even more shocked that your saying about 4/minute holy s*#@ but cool anyway!

reply

This is very interesting. Is it the most profane movie? Thinking back it did have a lot of profanity. I didn't count though. Did the film makers realize what they were doing? Or is this some kind of angle?

reply

I was very offended after the character Jack continuously used offensive language on the character Geri. I felt the movie was to profane. I couldn't even watch it all the way through. I was aware that the DVD contained adult language but not to this extent. It just wasn't for me.

reply

I think you might be right; based on its running time this movie has more F-bombs per minute than any other movie I know of. I really didn't think there was that many until I watched again and counted.

reply

God, this indie film is profane. It's tolerable though because of the position they are in.

reply

This film was profane with out a dought. It was probably one of the most bloodiest films I've seen in a while too. I hated the character Jack, I was happy to see his brains blown out.

reply

There were only a couple of times in this movie where the level was of profanity was noticeable. Most of the time it just seemed like part of the atmosphere these characters were in. It was a tense situation with blood and killing all around them, plus they were hardened criminals who didn't really like each other. They spoke the way we should have expected them to speak.

reply

Produciton,
I disgree, I thought Jack and Robert were a bit over the top. Jack being the winner of profanity. Do people use that much foul language when put in that position or as Jack said a 'situation'? When Jack was beating on the character Ron and verbally abusing the dead body of Mark, then this is my point. To me all this is; is a profane blood bath of idiots.

reply

Hey girly, your wrong. These guys are criminals, and they're in a bad position with time running out. How the hell would you expect them to act? Ok lets sit down over a cup of tea and discuss what we should do next. Why don't you stick with Disney movies.

reply

The use of profanity can almost be looked upon as an art form, provided it's in the right hands. We have no way of knowing how much of this language was in the script and how much was improvised. I think even actors can get caught up in the moment and go over the top, so it's certainly plausible that "real" criminals would as well. This debate can go on forever because some people absolutely don't like profanity and others aren't bothered by it. Just choose which side of the fence you're on. Plus, the bottom line is "Did you like the movie or not"? The rest doesn't matter.

reply

You have a point, no one really know how they are going to react to a situation until they are in that situation. I think if I were placed in that situation I would just be nuts.

reply

I agree, this movie is the most profane movie I saw but you don't really notice it other than a few times. When Jack is beating on Ron at the end, and Jack is shaking the dead body of Mark are the only times it stands out.

Tarantino, no. David Mamet, yes.

reply

I don't think I have watched a movie with this much profanity in it. For me, this is the most profane movie. If any one knows of a movie with more profanity than this one let me know.

reply

Don't bother, this is the winner. More f-bombs and profanity per minute than any other movie period!

reply

I agree, although you tend not to focus on it after a while. You start to focus on what's going to happen next
