The comment from wtf-42

Wow. It appears that the person known as "wtf-42" really disliked this movie. wtf-42 seems to have a lot of animosity toward this movie. I wonder as to why he feels that way. There some whounable to deal with disabled people, and they manisfest their insecurity by becoming incensed at the ones they fear. Disturbing movies are movies equal to "Saw", and "Hostel". I for my part enjoyed Freakshow. I will not spoiled for the reader, notwhistanding, some violent scenes were prolonged for the shock effect.

Paceves-1 I agree with you.

The writer sounds abit angry. It's just his/hers opinion.

I just watched this movie.

What a horrible waste of time. Garbage city. I hope you want to be bored for 1 hour and then mildly amused for the last 30.

Save yourself the pain and rent a real horror movie like the original TCM or Saw.

absolute *beep* i cant believe someone didnt stop the director and tell him to go do something else. although its not really the directors fault, the worst bit is the script/acting. is the acting THAT bad or was it the script the actors were given. now some may say im missing the point as acting is considered secondary in this kind of film but this was really appalling. and thats not aimed at the freaks/real life disabled (?) but at the 'real' actors.
it reminds me of a 5th rate 'video nasty' from the early 80's but with better special fx.
rychek6 is right, watch Saw (or similar) instead, remember...if u choose to watch it, it'll be an hour and a half of your life you've never get back.

The director only did the scene directing. He didn't do the editing nor decide what was cut and what was kept in.

Drew actually directed some really good stuff. For what ever reason the producers/editors choose not to use some of it.

I agree, Drew did direct some very good scenes, and took a lot of suggestions from circus folks, and sideshow folks to keep some scenes authentic, as it would have been done in a real sideshow.

Some of the performers (freaks) had some good lines, and reactions to the events taking place within the movie.

I hope that when it comes to TV, the deleted scenes, and Hank's story line is put back in.

Yeah, I just finished watching this movie with the wifey - really bad. I'm a big fan of "good" bad movies (that's why I love Troma movies and the like for example), but this one elevates itself to the "just bad" level. You've got a film trying to be a period piece set in the 30's or 40's (by my guess), but the people act and talk like people from the 21st century (i.e. the suggestive nuances, language, outright sexual inuendo, etc.). I'm not saying people back then didn't do this, but not on this level. The sound is horrible, I lost count of the number of scenes where background noise bleeds into the audio takes (planes flying over, vehicular traffic in the background, trains, etc.). There is no real atmosphere to the movie, it's like I was watching an old Dr. Who episode where you know they are in some room someplace with tents set up trying to make you think they are outside. I know this was obviously a low budget pic, but still.....The majority of the acting was horrible (again, falling into the "just bad" category versus "good bad" category). The only thing that I really liked in the movie was the last 10 minutes or so of the movie where the girl gets it - pretty good F/X, even if they don't really show you a whole lot of it on screen. I'd also like to know how this film was, as the box says, "banned in 43 countries", as there really isn't a whole lot of graphic violence or nudity in it. The few blood and guts bits are mostly PG-13 (maybe with the exception of the final girl getting her due). The few sideshow performers that are in the movie, to me, really don't get enough screen time either.

Overally, if you are looking for some late night cheese, check this out. If you are looking for a serious movie, don't waste your money.
