Winstead comically miscast

If there were an Oscar for worst miscasting, Winstead would have easily won for this movie. Her constant deer-in-the-headlights stare and round babyface with the perfectly combed hair were so comically out of place next to the gross out alien and the rugged norsemen.
She is not a bad actress per se but should stick to drama and teen movies.

She was fine, even though I think she was fairly young for being an "expert" that others would seek out for this situation.

I thought she was believable as a serious scientist.

I didn't see this "constant" deer in the headlights stare.

She just seemed a little to young for this kind of work. She felt like dougie howser amongst a bunch of coal miners. I was expecting some one a little more rugged and aged (experienced). Her acting was fine.

reply

Nah. I was skeptical going in but I was pleasantly surprised by Winstead's performance. I thought she was very solid in the lead role.

MEW was brilliant in this film. Your criticisms of her come down to her appearance, she has a cute face and big eyes. I don't see why that's an issue or why someone who is attractive shouldn't be in films like this.

She's one of the best 'scream queens' of all time. Her work in this film, Final Destination 3 (2006), Black Christmas (2006), Death Proof (2007) & 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) have her a cerfitied modern Horror legend.

Oh for sure buddy. Her cute baby face and lovely hair grated me so much. We needed more rugged manly men to salivate over in her place. She should stick to girly movies for silly girls and leave horror movies for the macho actors that I frequently masturbate over.
