Piano Music Played

Anyone recoginize the piano piece played at the end? Any ideas how to find out? I was very good and fit the mood well, I would like to play it.

You were very good and fit the mood well? What about the music?

i was very good & fit the dog well

I think it's Brahms, maybe an Intermezzo because that's what was on the record in the scene where he puts it on the record player.

I am not very familiar with Brahms works, but searched high and low on line. I really liked the piece he played. The Intermezzos were the only pure piano solo's I found. Try amazon.com and you can listen to "Brahms: The Complete Intermezzos." I'd wager it's in there and I may just buy the CD myself.

I thought the piano music was beautiful, too, and did a little research. Until I read ajw27-1's post mentioning Brahms I'd been unsuccessful, but armed with that, I found the citation in my __Dictionary of Musical Themes__. It's Brahms' Intermezzo in A, Op. 118, No. 2.

This is absolutely correct. There are two fine CD recordings I'd recommend:
Radu Lupu's on London CD (all Brahms) and one with other similar contemplative pieces, played by Carol Rosenberger, called "Such Stuff of Dreams". For those who like this piece, I'd highly recommend they try Chopin's "Nocturnes".
Enjoy.

Johannes Brahms: Intermezzo opus 116 No 2

I tried to decipher the pianist on the LP album, but could not.

My recording is: Johannes Brahms
Complete intermmezzos
Luba Edlina, piano
Chandos 8467.

The piano music throughout the Jesse Stone movies series is very nice. Does anyone know if there are any soundtrack recordings available?

You can listen to this delightful Brahms' Intermezzo in A, Op. 118, No. 2. on YouTube. Simply type in the title as shown above. This particular rendition is being played by Citlalli Guevara on an electronic keyboard. There are other listening/performance options available. Thought this would get you started.

The Radu Lupu performance on YouTube seems closest to the "recording" played during the movie. Link:

I just saw the repeat of this tonight and knew you all would have the same question: what was that Brahams piece?

Through the magic of my DVR, I freeze framed it to the point where I could definitely see that the title on the LP cover was "SEVEN PIANO (glare and Selleck's collar)."

According to wikipedia:

Op. 116, Seven Fantasias for piano (1892)

Op. 118, Six Pieces for Piano (1893)

So I think op. 116 is likely the correct choice, unless the producers messed up and gave Tom a op. 116 album while playing op. 118.

Regardless, the next time I hit the library, I'm checking both of them out.

Gorgeous stuff, but the crazy old bat would have better served him by recommending Black label, or perhaps a nice single malt.

okay.. im getting confused here...

I've seen all of Stones movies except for this one and the new one in 08 (great stuff)

And yes I ADORE the music.. i collect movie scores as well but thats beside the point.

I always thought the lovely piano cue for Stone (his theme) was created by Jeff Beal???

Speaking of Beal, why isnt he listed on this movie and the new one in 08?????????????????????

Brahms Intermezzo in A Major - Op. 118 No. 2

reply

The best recording of Brahms piano music, including the piece you cited, is by pianist Radu Lupu.

This is the only stone movie I havent seen yet.

But I thought you guys were talking about Jeff Beals work on the movies (composer)...

I assume in this one, its more of a classical reference?
