Anyone have any idea why the "Rose" character was brought into this movie to replace "Molly" who was quite prominent in the book? Since Viola Davis DID have one scene where Jesse calls her in the middle of the night, and Molly is pregnant, I'm guessing that maybe Viola Davis actually WAS pregnant and could not appear in the entire movie.

shareI'm just catching upon this series on Netflix myself and wondering why Molly was replaced. I liked the Viola Davis character and mised her. Maybe she was tied up in a movie at the time as she seems to be a very popular actress. I'm still sorry she was replaced though, although I have nothing against Kathy Baker whom I also like.

I think Viola Davis' career was seriously taking off and it made sense for her to do movies. Kathy Baker is wonderful and goes back and forth between movies and TV. Both strong actresses in good roles.
