Why does season 5 have so absurdly many jerks?

Has anybody noticed how season 5 seemed to up the ante of people who either already start out as or become total douchebags?

Stu is a careless sex machine who doesn't even see blowjobs as a big deal, Richard Bates is an alcoholic wreck who makes his wife's life miserable, Tyler is a spoiled brat who takes Becca for granted, Samurai Apocalypse is out of his mind and very misdemeaning towards his "baby mamas", Hank meets a director who is supposedly critically acclaimed but turns out to be bonkers and really sexist, Lizzie starts out as a sweet person but turns out to be a cheating unsympathetic dumbass...

Charlie was fine, he didn't act that bad.

Know what I mean? There have alwas been jerks on the show, but also a good bunch of people who were good people. Hank's lawyer in season 4, Lew Ashby, Karen had a boyfriend for a while who actually wasn't a dick, and Mia while flawed was really just an innocent 16-year-old girl...

Now, most of these characters I listed are funny, but I'm beginning to miss genuinely nice characters who aren't corrupted. Know what I mean?
